Watermark Health COVID-19 Information

Welcome to Watermark Health,
how can we serve you?

At our clinics, we start every visit with that question.

As a ministry organization, we count it an honor to serve the needs of the city in the healthcare space.

Since March of 2020 we have been finding unique ways to serve our patient population and to flex towards the new needs of our city during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This included keeping our doors open when other businesses closed in March of 2020, launching a testing site in April of 2020, facilitating pop-up clinics and mobile testing for homeless and low income communities, adding service lines for areas of lower access, and providing urgent care services for over 10,000 patients a year. We have continuously chosen to step towards the needs of our city with the intent to serve others in the name of Jesus during these trying times. We have seen the Lord use these “good works” to make His name more famous and to open the eyes of patients as they understand the love of Christ, some for the first time.

During this stage of the pandemic, the current highest need we see is an opportunity to provide access to reliable, understandable, evidence-based information on the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines.

Sadly, discourse around the pandemic has been divisive since its beginning days. The scientific research and public health information shared in public spaces has become politicized. Misinformation has been widely communicated. And media has prioritized clicks and website traffic rather than responsible communication tactics.

We know this has been a confusing time. It is understandable that good information has been hard to come by. In addition to that, it is wise and right as a consumer to have questions surrounding any new medical technology as it comes to market.

Tragically though, the cost of this confusion has been great. People continue to die or suffer the long term impacts from COVID-19 infections. At the time of writing this, area hospitals are continuing to report a shortage of staffed ICU beds. This is not a hypothetical debate about an overwhelmed hospital system or differing opinions. The lack of reliable information is leading us into a dire situation. We are facing the darkest days of the pandemic as staffing shortages driven by the burnout of 2020 intersect with another exponential rise of hospitalizations.  (UTSW numbers, Texas DSHS Dashboard

For these reasons, we have prayerfully decided to devote energy to providing reliable, evidence based information from a biblical worldview.

At Watermark Health, we are first and foremost followers of Jesus Christ. Our lives have been changed by a relationship with Him, and we do what we do in an effort to make His name more famous. Secondarily, we are scientists who practice Evidence Based Medicine. This means we use the best available researched evidence to guide clinical decision making. We take scientific findings and apply them to real life.

What you find on the following pages will follow this worldview and this practice.  If you are not a follower of Christ, or you prefer alternative forms of medicine, you will most likely disagree with portions of the content we are presenting.

As we enter into this incredibly divisive topic, it is our prayer that factual, cited, peer-reviewed and statistically accurate sources will bring healing and clarity to the faith community on this topic. We hope to de-politicize the content you have seen previously, and bring clarity where there has been confusion. We take seriously the call to foster peace (Romans 12:18) and unity within the body (Psalm 133:1, John 17:20-23), so even in areas where there may be disagreement, we aim to communicate with respect and honor to those who may oppose the information we present (Ephesians 4:29) .
